Helping Families Find & Follow Jesus

About Us

We strive to SHARE THE GOSPEL with crowds and RELATIONALLY DISCIPLE individuals.

“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

What We Believe

At Coastal, we believe in sharing the Gospel, making disciples, and living out Christ’s love in every part of life.

We believe all Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, complete as the revelation of God’s will for salvation, and the supreme and final authority in all matters to which they speak.

We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God, an infinite intelligent Spirit, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth; perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son, and has precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. We believe further that He is not only true God, but true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We also believe in His sinless life, His substitutionary atonement, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven, His priestly intercession on behalf of His people, and His personal, visible return from Heaven.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature. He is active in His work in regeneration, sanctification, and preservation. His ministry is to implement Christ’s work of redeeming the lost and empowering the believer for godly living and service.

We believe the Church is the spiritual body and family of God which Christ is head. The Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. We believe that this body expresses itself in local assemblies whose members have confessed faith in Christ and have associated themselves for worship, for instruction, for evangelism, for fellowship, and for service. Ordinances of the local church are baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper.

We believe God created man, male and female, in the image of God and free from sin. But by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless state, in consequence of which, all mankind are now sinners, continuing to choose to sin; therefore, man is under just condemnation without defense or excuse.

We believe that sin is directed against God Himself and that all men are born into sin, our sin nature. The Bible has clear teaching on the definition of sin and its consequences. The only remedy for sin is forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

We believe in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We further believe that this salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God, and was purchased by Christ on the cross, being of unlimited atonement; and is received by man through faith, apart from any human merit, works, or ritual.

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified taking of human life. We reject any position that justifies abortion in any circumstance. Unborn children are the most vulnerable of all people. We should actively speak up for and protect the unborn.

Baptism is an ordinance of the Church, it is the immersion of professed believers in Jesus Christ, as an outward sign of an inward change in their life.

We believe in the reality of the existence of angels, demons and Satan. They are at work around us, some for the good of God and others for evil of the world.

We believe Christ will return personally and bodily to the earth to overcome Satan, to judge the living and the dead, and to establish His millennial kingdom and fulfillment of God’s eternal plan. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the lost. The believer shall be raised to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord in heaven; and the unbeliever, to everlasting and conscious punishment in hell.

We believe that God ordained marriage as a voluntary union for life of one man and one woman; that sexual intimacy is legitimate only within the bounds of marriage; that marriage is more than a contract between two persons: It is a covenant before God; and that in Christian marriages, the Church acts as an agent of God's blessing and a supportive community.

Our Story

Our story is a journey of faith, community, and purpose, as we seek to follow Jesus and impact lives both locally and globally.

How It All Started

In the Fall of 2008, James and Kirsten Pendleton stepped out to follow God's leading to start a church in Martin County that focused on relationships. A passionate relationship with Jesus and authentic relationships with other believers. Over the next year and a half, a living room of friends grew to a small crowd of 40-50 people in a room. With a passionate desire for this relational community of people to share the Gospel of Jesus with our city, Coastal Life Church was organized and launched its first service on Easter 2010 in a leased warehouse building on Dixie Hwy in Stuart. The mission became clear to help people ENCOUNTER Jesus as their Savior, to EQUIP believers in their walk with Jesus, and to ENGAGE people through loving acts of service in our community and around the world.

Expanding the Vision

Through the first decade in the life of our church, we saw God do some amazing things, many times in spite of us. Hundreds of people accepted Jesus Christ and were baptized. The church grew in number and in spiritual maturity. We became actively involved in our community being the hands and feet of Jesus and built partnerships with organizations that were doing things close to the heart of God. We partnered with organizations around the world to help spread the Gospel around the globe. After purchasing our current campus in Palm City in 2012, we permanently moved all of our ministries to this location in May 2014. God has allowed us to impact this community in big ways through our heart to be a church that loves unchurched people.

Where We Are Headed

As we entered the second decade as a church, Pastor James renewed our commitment to our mission by adopting the mission statement of HELPING FAMILIES FIND AND FOLLOW JESUS. We find ourselves in a community that is very family oriented and we believe that if we can impact families as a church we will make an eternal difference in Martin County. Our vision is to see generations of Christ-centered homes throughout the Treasure Coast. We have a desire to see God strengthen marriages, family relationships, and homes. A passion for the next generation of kids and teenagers to be changed by Jesus and God's Word. We believe that following Jesus impacts the way you live your life, and that your life should impact the place you live.
